September Lake is small lake only a few minutes’ walk from Valdes Drive near the junction with Bold Point Road. You cannot see the lake from the road, and it is a beautiful little jewel very well worth the few minutes’ stroll from the road to the lake edge.
Drive north from Heriot Bay for about 15 minutes until you come to Valdes Drive on your right. Turn right onto Valdes Drive and drive to the third hydro pole on your left. All hydro poles are numbered about 10 feet from the ground with a large stainless-steel number. At pole No. 3 on Valdes Drive is a small grassy parking space. Park here and cross the road to find the start of the September Lake Trail. The start is not signposted and currently there is a blue paint mark on a tree at the trail entrance, but this tree is destined to be felled as it is leaning over the hydro lines. The trail is easy to find, blue paint on tree or not. The start of the trail is at: 50º 10.140′, 125º 13.722′
Here are a few photos of September Lake, and of the parking spot as seen from the start of the trail to the lake and looking towards Bold Point Road.
